Martin Luther King Day of Service Event

You and your family are invited to join us on Monday, January 20th to become part of a video retrospective of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy in our community. Please keep reading for details.

SPF families and community members of all ages are encouraged to share what Dr. King's Dream means to them in a video project happening this MLK Day.
HOSTED BY:
Social Justice Matters & R.E.A.L. Parents x SPF at the 16th Annual Scotch Plains Fanwood Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

WE WILL:
Share Dr. King's words & work for inspiration
Offer conversation prompts
Record your/your family's discussion
Edit it into the bigger project

YOU/YOUR FAMILY WILL:
Become part of our community's history by answering one or more of the prompts on camera in a short video, such as:

  • What does Dr King's Dream mean to you?

  • What is a conviction or belief you have that you believe is worth marching for?

  • What would you contribute to the world to earn a Nobel Peace Prize?

In 2024 our participants ranged in age from 5 to 97 years old. All voices are welcome!

There will be a dedicated room at the JCC for those who sign up.

Examples of Dr. King's work and influence will be on display throughout the space for all ages to enjoy.

Members of SJM and R.E.A.L. Parents x SPF leadership will be there to welcome, record and assist participants at the activity. We will use the recordings to build an archive that we can reference to see how our community’s perspectives change over time.
