MLK Day of Service Award

The 2022 recipient of The MLK Day of Service Award, Rabbi Joel Abraham, accepted the award from “partner in crime,” Leland McGee. Both men were co-founders of Social Justice Matters, and Leland McGee was the first recipient of the award. Rabbi Abraham went on to state, “ For me, this has been a journey and a journey of listening. I take this award as a charge, not as a thanks for work done but as a challenge to continue to work, to listen. My eyes have continually been opened as I have been in this journey, opened by people like Malcolm Nettingham, by Leland, by many of the people here on this call, especially the members of our BSU on what it really means to confront racism.”
