Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Healing Circles grow from a natural, ancient practice and are designed to focus on personal stories that affirm our common humanity rather than on solving a problem. They are designed to go much deeper into the heart space by encouraging people to tell their stories, to listen deeply to the stories of others, find common ground and enable us to see our common humanity.
TRHT Healing Circles bring together residents of the towns to tell our stories and bring awareness of our shared humanity.
This is a process developed by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and supported by Rutgers-Newark and offered by Social Justice Matters in cooperation with Scotch Plains/Fanwood's Joint Committee for Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT).
Circles are confidential, safe spaces for participants to hold truthful conversations around shared experiences.
The experience relies on intentional listening and opening your heart space to unearth truths and conscious and unconscious biases. Participating in racial healing circles can also raise our awareness, consciousness, compassion, and empathy.
